What are Projects?

Projects let you organize project-specific code research and collaborate with your team. Just set the project details once (location, permit year, occupancy type, and more) - so you don't have to re-enter them with every code question. All your research stays organized in one place, tied to the project it belongs to.

The project research is shared with your team so that the team can contribute and collaborate when required.

Quick Note

Projects are available on both ‘Lite’ and ‘Pro’ plans.

Why is it important and for whom?

  • Code compliance questions always depend on context: where the building is, when it was permitted, what it's used for.

  • Without Projects, you'd re-enter this information every time you ask something. Projects removes that repetition.

  • It's useful for anyone managing multiple projects or handing off work to colleagues mid-stream. Queries saved to a project are visible to your entire team — queries outside of projects remain private.

Benefits

  1. Set context once

Enter your project details upfront. Every question you ask automatically uses that context—no need to specify jurisdiction or occupancy type each time.

  2. Keep research organized

All questions and answers live under the project they belong to. Nothing gets lost in a generic chat history.

  3. Hand off without re-explaining

When a colleague picks up the project, they see the full research trail and the AI already knows the building details.

  4. Build firm knowledge over time

Completed projects become a reference library. Search past research when similar projects come up.

How to use Projects: A step-by-step guide

Here is a detailed breakdown of how to get the most out of a project:

Step 1: Create a new project

  • Click on 'Projects' in the left sidebar, then click 'New Project.'

Step 2: Enter project details

Fill in the key information

  • Project name: Something your team will recognize

  • Address: The project location (used to determine jurisdiction)

  • Permit year: The code adoption year that applies

  • Occupancy type: Residential, commercial, mixed-use, etc.

Add additional details for a better, specific research output.

Step 3: Ask questions within the project

  • Once inside a project, use Code Search as usual. The AI already knows your jurisdiction, year, and occupancy - so your questions can be simpler and answers more precise.

Step 4: Review past research

  • All questions and answers are saved under the project. Scroll through or search to find previous research without digging through unrelated chats.

Yes. Go to the project → Settings → Edit. Updated details apply to future questions but won't change past answers.

  3. What happens if I delete a project?

All research inside the project is deleted. This can't be undone.

  4. Can I move a search query from one project to another?

Not currently. You'd need to ask the question again inside the correct project.

  5. Who can access my projects?

Your entire organization. Any query saved to a project becomes visible to all team members. Queries not saved to a project remain private to you.

  6. Is there a limit on how many projects I can create?

No. Create as many as you need.

  7. What happens to my projects if I downgrade to Free?

You lose access to Projects. Your data stays intact—upgrade again to restore access.
